ANNOUNCING A PUBLIC MEETING ON THE U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION’S LICENSING PROCESS FOR THE PROPOSED INTERNATIONAL ISOTOPES, INC., DECONVERSION FACILITY  

On January 14, 2010, from 4:00 – conclusion, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) will hold a public meeting in Hobbs, New Mexico (NM) at the Lea County Events Center.  The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the agency’s licensing process for the International Isotopes, Inc. proposed Depleted Uranium De-Conversion and Fluorine Extraction Processing Facility, planned to be located in Lea County, NM.  NRC staff will be available beginning at 4:00 pm to informally discuss the project.  A formal session will begin at 5:00pm, with NRC staff providing a brief overview of the proposed facility, the agency’s licensing and inspection processes, and the Environmental Review.  Following this discussion, individuals will have opportunity to ask questions of the NRC staff and provide comments.    The meeting will take place at:   Lea County Events Center Banquet Hall 5101 North. Lovington Hwy. Hobbs, New Mexico 88240                                                  

Time:    Open House:       4:00pm – 5:00pm           Public Meeting:   5:00pm – conclusion
